the letter C

Elizabeth of about new york
has given me the letter C
in a game of tag,
to wit
1. write about ten things you love
that begin with the letter
2. post the list
3. assign those who comment a letter

and the game continues...

a simple letter, the c,
yet not without its charms.
a single stroke, a curve,
a comma in reverse...

words that come to mind:

chill
caramel
cream
california
cone
capital
copious
cogent
corrupt
corporate
coral
cleverness
corners, cutting them
capable
culpable
crate & barrel

1. clooney, george
let's stop right here.
let's spend a moment
in quiet contemplation
of perfection. the smart, sexy,
liberal, self-deprecating,
funny perfection that is
mr. clooney.

other c words that might apply to
mr. clooney include

clarity
candid
creative
curious
cheshire cat
charming
cunning
captivating
carrouse

2. clouds

to contemplate their forms
and colors, their movement and
texture is to be enraptured.

3. calla lilies

i first became enthralled with them
in guatemala where, during dia de los muertos,
they decorate cemeteries beside marigold
and coxcomb

4. canyon de chelly
near the four corners where AZ and NM meet UT and CO
on the navajo res, this sacred land
of serene and profoundly moving beauty
is one of the places on the planet
where i feel most at peace.

5. coffee
i'm partial to peet's.
french roast or sumatra.
since you asked.

6. color

huipile, san mateo ixtatlan, huehuetenango, guatemala

even though i often dress in the
traditional new york uniform
of all black
i do love color.
as my frequent visits to guatemala
and my ridiculous collection of
huipiles can attest.

7. cheese

at the moment, in my fridge:
danish blue
aged asiago
tete de moine

i do like my cheese.
i was, after all, born in the year
of the rat...

8. casablanca

and as long as we're at the cinema

9. charade

any excuse to add audrey and cary
to a list is to be taken...

for number 10...
so many possibilites...

cats
cactus
chamisa
cinnamon
carrousel
camelot

any one would do...

O! Wait!

10. chocolate!

any kind. i'm not a chocolate snob.
i've always been partial to dark chocolate
though lately i've become a fan of
green & black's organic milk chocolate.
and i'm not above nestle's chocolate bits,
excuse me, semisweet morsels,
straight from the bag.
