workshop: still life in two parts

this week's photography workshop subject
over at c&c photography :still life.

i did the assignment twice -
once bright and colorful and once,
more to my liking,
muted and brooding.

first i bought a selection of mexican groceries:
poblanos and serranos, tomatillos. a few nopal cactus leaves.

then, yesterday after work i pulled little vases from my cabinets
and went out to what passes for a backyard
behind my apartment building...

(it's not in spring mode yet
but the rough surfaces were perfect
with the pottery.)

by the way, many of these pots are by my friend
the wonderful margaret wozniak
see more of her work here and here

  7. The shot from above of the patio mixes in so well with a nice contrast to the other images. The fourth image sings and the edging in the last images is so wonderful.

  13. I love both sets!! My eyes are glad you went the extra distance!! I think the second one is my fave as you have to look for a moment to realize there is a reflection going on, then you have to think a bit longer to decipher that it's a copper bowl...very nice work!

I love all the wood and texture in your backyard!! Fabulous!
