on not reading the news

inspired by a bit of this profoundly inspiring post

i find myself thumbing through
the paper, drawn only to the
eccentric or amusing, the
trivial or delightful.
which is to say: none of
the news.

i use it mainly, now, for collage:
torn pieces of sky chart.
errant fragments of word.
i swipe medium on the back of scraps
and use squares of newspaper
as backing.
