have you noticed that it has become
a thing
that, when asked a question
(i'm speaking, especially,
of folks being interviewed on
tv or radio)
the answer frequently begins:

listen for it.
Sentences should not begin with
just sayin'.

language curmudgeon out.

  1. I agree with you completely! I have a few friends who start every sentence with "So." Another new verb I take great umbrage with is "to grow," as in "We are growing our business." Aaaaarrrrgggghhhh! And all the media use it repeatedly. It drives me crackerdog.
    Your fellow language curmudgeon out.

  2. Just as bad is when sentences end with "so." I hear it a lot in TV shows and movies, being used by characters who think they've proven a point.

  3. I physically cringe when people interchangeably use "less" and "fewer". But hey, as long as they aren't saying things are "totes amazeballs", we are still barely winning the grammar war.
