so that's that.

i am no longer a graphic designer
for a large metropolitan newspaper.

i guess my neverending battle for
truth, justice
and the american way
has come to an end.

that identity was so much a part of me
for so long...
looking forward to discovering
who i am now.*

here (kind of a non sequitur,
but i haven't posted in so long)
are some recent iphone images
from the lee bontecou exhibit
at the modern.

* would love to hear suggestions
about what i should be doing
with all this free time.

call it an informal contest -
i promise to come up with an appropriate award,
you provide suggestions.
legal, do-able,
enjoyable, creative suggestions.
email me or comment.

it's official, more later

friday will be my last day of work.

as with the finale of 'lost'
it will take a bit
to digest
but congratulations are definitely in order.

the meaning of yogurt

i buy yogurt at whole foods.
their 365 brand.
plain, nonfat.
usually ten containers at a time
for two weeks at work.
each morning
i grab a container
and a packet of fruit and nuts
and toss it into my tote. breakfast.

each day this week
removing that container from the fridge
has been the single most poignant gesture
of my day.

six containers remain in my fridge.
they represent the last six days
of my employment.

(contingent on my application
for a buyout being approved
which will happen - or not -
on monday. keep your
fingers crossed)

i'm filled with trepidation
and delight.

30 years.
six containers.

missed connections

the utterly charming,
sweetly inventive illustrations of
sophie blackall are inspired by
the missed connections section of craigs list.

there's a story here...

i haven't been using words here
for so long
that it will remain untold.

just iphone:
marina abramovic

so much lately
to organize and untangle
and words get in the way.

that makes no sense of course.
but then i've been watching 'lost'
and reading way too much
theorizing about it
to make sense of anything.

if that makes sense.

nature and nurture

being at snow farm in
western massachusetts
for a week
is an escape
on many levels:
from the city, from routine,
into nature and craft.

first the green

i was up in western massachusetts
making beads. eating, sleeping,
taking pictures and making beads. heaven.
